Description

Letter, in French, from H[enrietta Knight, Lady] Luxborough, dated at `a Barells le 17 Mai 1752', to [William Shenstone], written on her return [from Bath], and inviting him to visit her with his friend `Mr. Greaves' [i.e.Richard Graves], adding that `Mr. Outing', presently at Henley-in-Arden, will be pleased to see him. The letter has scalloped edges decorated in colour with two painted figures at the beginning and end of the text. This letter does not appear in Letters written by ... Lady Luxborough to William Shenstone, Esq., London, 1775, but is mentioned by Marjorie Williams, William Shenstone, 1935, pp. 77-8, when the decorated envelope (`A Shenstone a la Ferme Ornee') also survived.
