Attested Copies of Indentures of Lease and Release, the Release dated the 23rd January 1788, whereby Thomas Hearn of Buckingham, gentleman at the direction and appointment of Mary Baker of Wood Street, Spitalfields, Middlesex, spinster (one of the 3 daughters and co-heiresses at Law of John Baker theretofore of Alveston, mercer deceased who was the elder son and heir of John Baker theretofore of Alveston, gentleman deceased, also one of the two surviving sisters and co-heiresses of Martha Baker also deceased) conveyed to William Stanley of Alveston, gentleman and his heirs a messuage with appurtenances also lands called Townsends Ground, Coles Close, Cliff Bank and 3 leys in Alveston Pasture, all in the Parish of Alveston for £1100. Witnesses: Thomas Higgins, Thomas Sutton, junior, Baringhall Street, London and Charles H. Hunt. Attested by John G. Smith and Richard Knibbs, clerks to Mr. Hunt. Lease by Mary Baker and Thomas Hearn to William Stanley of the same premises for one year. Witnessed and attested as before. See also ER3/3003, ER3/3004 and ER3/3005-3006.
