Armchair

Description

A mid 17th-century walnut and pine upholstered armchair; the rectangular back covered with patterned velvet nailed over panel and uprights; the straight octagonal-section arms raised on conforming supports; the upholstered rectangular seat covered with the same velvet; raised on column-turned legs with a plain high front stretcher and lower stretchers, with turned feet; French, about 1640; rear right leg and attached stretchers replaced.
