Seal matrix
Description
A brass seal matrix on a wooden mount, used by the Reverend James Davenport, D.D., Vicar of Stratford-upon-Avon, in his role as Ordinary Judge of the Peculiar (a form of church court) of Stratford-upon-Avon, 1787. The seal is circular and bears a representation of an embattled building with a tower gateway in the centre., 1910 Catalogue - 'Brass seal matrix on wooden mount, of the Rev. James Davenport, D.D., Vicar of Stratford-upon-Avon, as Ordinary Judge of the Peculiar of Stratford, 1787. Dr. Davenport was Vicar from 1787 till his death, in his ninety-second year, in 1841. The seal is circular and bears as a device an embattled building with a tower gateway in centre.
