Handkerchief

Description

Large handkerchief made as a souvenir for the Garrick Jubilee of 1769. It is made from linen (possibly cotton) and printed in red with 8 characters from Shakespeare's plays, within a border of trailing flowers and stems, with floral sprigs and leaves scattered over the ground fabric. The initials 'M R' is embroidered in black thread in top right corner.
