Shakespeare's Birthplace night-light

Description

A ceramic souvenir of Shakespeare's Birthplace by Copeland, about 1847. Either a night-light or a novelty cigar-rest, designed so smoke would vent through the chimney. In two parts - model and base, the base inscribed with the manufacturer's name and a Class IV registration mark indicating that the design was registered on 21st September 1847. Presumably made by Copeland under licence, as the design was registered by Egerton Jacobson Filmore of 1, Furnivals Inn, Holborn, London.
