Snuff Box

Description

An early nineteenth-century snuff box; gold; in the centre is a miniature of Shakespeare, around the edges of the box is a decoration consisting of an interlaced scroll design. Presented to the English actor John Philip Kemble on 28 February 1818 by Francis Jeffrey, Lord Jeffrey, in the name of 50 inhabitants of Edinburgh in the first year of Kemble's retirement.
