Edward J. Cherry (FSRA) was born in St. Albans and trained a his father's photographic and framing business. He emigrated to Canada in 1907 and worked as a picture framer in Vancouver before enlisting in 1916. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1928 and returned to Canada in 1939 to open his own studio.
