Papier mache pen case

Description

Early 20th century papier mache pen case; varnished, decorated with religious scenes - a `monk' in brown robes, winged angels and women in a country setting with bridges, a church and a watermill in the background; base and slide red with gold decoration and black interior. Contents: 1 silver coloured inkwell shaped to fit case; 2 hollow wooden pens, trimmed and used, one with fine point, one wide; 1 hollow wooden pen, untrimmed; 1 pair steel scissors marked 'A.HERMES SOLINGEN' an 'AH' by a cutler's mark, slim in-line handle loops to fit case; 1 spoon, long thin handle with rounded cruciform terminus, forks to join bowl with impressed flower shape, possibly silver but unmarked; 1 slip of paper, reads 'Sincerely yours Marie Corelli'; c. 1900-1925; varnish on surface is cracked/scored, some wear at opening edges.
