Description

A Venice maiolica two-handled ovoid albarello (drug jar), about 1550; blue decoration with the sacred medallion painted in yellow against a berettino ground of foliage; lettering S.D.POLPODIO (syrup of distilled ferns) with monogram IHS above in yellow; handles terminating in animals' masks, possibly rams, with curly horns; two chips in the base, two chips in lip.
