Ely Palace Portrait

Description

A portrait of Shakespeare; oil on oak panel; inscribed 'Aet.suae 39 x 1603' on top left hand side; framed in old Dutch style. Known as the 'Ely Palace' portrait as it belonged to Thomas Turton, Bishop of Ely, until 1864.
