Ladderback chair
Description
A backstool with deeply-shaped splats (originally four) between uprights with nipple finials; the rush seat raised on complex front legs, incorporating an inverted peg shaped top section above quasi-cabriole centre section with elongated pad foot; the front stretcher of double-peg shape with plain further stretchers; the back feet with extended heels; English or Dutch, c.1780; one back splat missing, the others damaged; the right-hand side seat rail broken; the right-hand central stretcher missing; front legs broken.
