Description

A late 16th-century oak chest; with rectangular two-plank cleated lid; the body panelled in linenfold (carved to look like folded fabric) with two-panel ends and five-panel front, the centre panel depressed to forma lock space; French, c.1580; front plank of top replaced; iron plate and hinges later.
