Description

A mid-sixteenth century stoneware bartmannkrug; salt glazed brown round bellied jug with bearded face on neck; on central roundel a sheep-shearing scene with 3 figures, one with sheep in hands, one female sitting down; houses and trees at back; surface of jug covered with rosettes in relief; 3 roundels around middle with a female bust in each; at bottom of central roundel the letters IM-MEI.
