Linen sheet

Description

Sheet, c.1600-1700. Sheet of white plain weave linen, consisting of two pieces joined down centre with length of bobbin lace. Initials 'EH' are worked at one end of the sheet, either side of the lace strip. There is a narrow edging of drawn thread work. Possibly owned by Elizabeth Hathaway (born 1626) or Elizabeth Hathaway, daughter of Richard Hathaway 1611-1692, married Standley of Chipping Campden, or Elizabeth Hathaway (mid-18th century), daughter of Robert and Sarah Hathaway.
