Description

A metal plaque, c. 1840. Plaque of Anne Hathaway's Cottage, made by C.C. Bayley; worked in white-metal plate, possibly tin; view is of side- and end-views of the house; also shown is part of an old barn and much vegetation; the main design is punched through from the reverse and the detail engraved; worked along the bottom in punched letters is 'REDISENCE OF ANN HATHAWAY SHAKESPEARE'S WIFE'; makers name-punch 'CC BAYLEY' in a scroll on bottom right of image; framed and glazed. Some cracks and discolouration.
