Spearhead

Description

Spearhead, c. 1579-1599. A late sixteenth-century pewter filigree decoration for staff top, dated 1589, with the standing figure of a soldier bearing a pike. Mounted in glazed frame. Excavated from the Thames foreshore and formerly part of the Hornsby Collection.
