King Lear

Description

A bronze sculpture by Greg Wyatt, inspired by 'King Lear'. The sculpture imaginatively blends characters and incidents from the play. Unveiled on 27th April 2001 by Joy Bluck Waters of Bermuda. During the ceremony, after a welcome by Professor Stanley Wells, chairman of the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust, two speeches from 'King Lear' were read by Malcolm Storry, associate artist of the Royal Shakespeare Company. It is the third in a series of sculptures by Greg Wyatt for the Great Garden near New Place, the site of Shakespeare's former home in Stratford-upon-Avon.
