Promotional Shakespeare gift set

Description

A 1964 Shakespeare Quatercentenary 'Vertues of Creda' boxed promotional gift set, in the form of a mock book, containing two bottles of Cinzano vermouth, one red and one white. The box lid, parodying a book cover, features a print of Shakespeare loosely derived from the Droeshout engraving. The inside of the lid features 'Two Gentlemen of Verona - as Shakespeare never intended' - a dialogue between the characters 'Bianco' and 'Rosso', derived from various drink-related quotations from the plays; made for the Simplex Electric Co. Ltd. of Blythebridge Staffordshire, presumably as promotional material for a trade conference at Eastbourne in 1964 (Creda is a brand of electrical appliance).
