Bronze pendant

Description

An Anglo-Saxon gilded bronze pendant, with a zoomorphic design., List of 'Accessions 1922 and 1923...' describes as 'A flat cast bronze gilt ornament, part of the terminal of a cruciform brooch'., This bronze ornament was found in the grave of a woman. It has a parrot-like face and was originally part of a large brooch but the woman appears to have been wearing it as a pendant. The woman was also buried with a pottery bowl and cup by her head, two square-headed brooches, a bronze ring brooch, a knife and two bronze ferrules, a pair of bronze clasps and the remains of a finger ring.
