Oak panel-back armchair

Description

A mid 17th-century oak panel-back armchair; the small crest with a flowerhead above a carved cresting rail; the large square panel carved with a circular pattern with a leafy and floral enrichment flanked by plain supports; the two-plank seat and moulded rails, raised on stop-chamfered legs with plain stretchers; branded WT on rear upright, IT on rear panel; English, about 1640; the crest replaced, pyramid finials added to uprights, seat replaced, patch to inside of front of right arm.
