Description

A late 17th-century oak chest; the three-plank rectangular lid above a rail carved with leafy S-scrolls; the centre panel carved with a diamond, and with initials and date MP 1689; flanked by two further diamond panels and further flanked by two plain panels; the stiles and bottom rail with heavy channel-moulding; English, North Lancashire, 1689; the lid replaced, some patching.
