Settle

Description

A late 17th century oak settle; the top edge with facing-strip above a moulded rail; the back containing two rows of four panels flanked by scrolled arms on baluster-turned supports; the two-plank seat moulded to front and right hand end; above a moulded rail supported on three turned legs with two conforming intermediate supports, with moulded stretchers and turned feet to the front; English, c.1680, the panelling possibly earlier; facing-strip, top and bottom rails of panelling, lower block of centre leg, feet, front end of right hand arm replaced; with other patching.
