Armchair

Description

An oak panel-back armchair with a scroll-carved cresting above a large two-plank panel carved with a quartered arrangement of leafy motifs; the scrolled arms raised on column-turned supports; the two-plank chamfered seat on shaped channel-moulded rails; raised on column-turned front legs and channel-moulded stretchers; English, basically c.1650; later extensively enriched with carved finials and cresting, split spindles to upright, top of arms and front lower framework and with later ball feet.
