Be Inspired: Shakespeare and Me

Graham Clarke: Artist, author, illustrator and humourist

Graham Clarke is one of Britain's most popular printmakers and responds to the comedy of everyday life through his artworks.

About his piece 'Not So Neither; or A Midsummer Night’s Dream by Wil. Shakespeare Gent. Publickly acted' he writes:

'As an artist I have always been attracted to the idea that grand, important and serious subjects can be interpreted through the eyes and hand of the "common man". After learning from childhood that William Shakespeare was the world’s greatest  playwright and therefore to be taken very seriously, it was wonderful to find later that part of his genius was to be funny. This is my tribute to a fellow "common man".'
