Shakespeare Connected - Shakespeare’s New Place: Artefacts and Inhabitants

Nuremberg Jetton (15th century) (Context 1031, Season 2)

This is an example of a Nuremberg token of Holy Roman Emperor Frederik III (reigned 1452-93) and was used as a substitute for regular currency. Other such examples found in London and elsewhere have been shown to have remained in circulation for some time.
