Shakespeare Connected - Shakespeare’s New Place: Artefacts and Inhabitants

Stone Roof Tiles (15th to 17th Century) (Context 1050, Season 2)

These stone tiles made up part of the roof of New Place. Red ceramic tiles and green glazed roof tiles were also used. These materials provided more protection from fire than their thatched counterparts.
