Shakespeare Connected - Storms and Watercolours: Visualising Shakespeare's Nature

Sculpture inspired by The Tempest, created by Greg Wyatt.

Sculpture is perhaps the most ‘earthy’ of artistic mediums, shaped from frequently raw natural materials such as clay and wood. Grey Wyatt’s beautiful bronze sculpture obliterates the divide between man and nature, representing the two as intertwined. Set in the green surroundings of the Great Garden near New Place, this work blends the human/ nonhuman divide with wonderful energy and an animated sense of movement. The viewer is brought into the natural world depicted, as though they are on these waves, in the midst of the storm brought to life through Shakespeare (and Wyatt’s) imaginations.
