Shakespeare's family in nine objects

Judith's Diary by Camille

HIGHLY COMMENDED

Who created it?

Camille, age 10

Biography

I am a ten-year-old girl who loves sports and being creative. I enjoy writing and making nice drawing designs for my pieces of writing.

About my diary

I chose Judith as the perspective to write from and I based most of it on her mourning of Hamnet’s death as well as her parents arguing. I researched some facts about how Shakespeare treated his family and how they treated each other.

Tell us how it felt to make your diary

I enjoyed planning my diary and the design. I was excited when I heard about the topic since it was different from what I was used to writing about previously. I also enjoyed learning all about Shakespeare and his family’s day-to-day life.

What did you find most interesting about Shakespeare's family?

I found it quite interesting that Shakespeare spent so little time with his family and that his children barely knew him. I would like to learn more about Anne Hathaway and historians’ perspective on this point in time.
