I am Daaniya and I’m ten-years-old. I enjoy art and sketching. I also do mix martial arts, which is something I love!

I am Kuzey and I am eleven-years-old. I enjoy building things with LEGO and using my creativity.

I am Nina and I am eleven-years-old. I enjoy cheerleading and musical theatre. I am trying out for Team GB.

About our diary

Daaniya: I decided to write as Judith (Hamnet’s twin) and I wrote about the days leading up to Hamnet’s unfortunate death. My diary entry is all about how Hamnet has been acting strange and how Judith is feeling like a part of her is missing.

Kuzey: I decided to write as Judith and focused on the day after Hamnet’s death because Judith would have been interested in finding out how Hamnet had died. I imagined that Hamnet’s parents didn’t seem bothered about him and this made Judith very suspicious.

Nina: I decided to write as Judith and about Hamnet’s passing. I imagined that Hamnet was stealing Shakespeare’s scripts, and my entry is all about how Judith finds out that there was poison involved in Hamnet’s death.

What did you enjoy about making your diary

Daaniya: At first, I didn’t know how to start but once I started writing the words started spilling out and found their way onto my paper.

Kuzey: I really enjoyed the creativity it offered, and I loved how all the stories came together to build a bigger picture.

Nina: I enjoyed the creative part of the challenge because we do not know much about Hamnet and there were a lot of gaps to fill with my imagination!

What did you find most interesting about Shakespeare's family?

Daaniya: The most interesting (but not so surprising) fact I found out was how much Shakespeare loved and cared for his books.

Kuzey: I was surprised to find out the number of children Shakespeare had.

Nina: I was surprised to find out how many children Shakespeare had!
