Sharing Shakespeare's Story
Sculpture, 1998. A bronze sculpture created by Greg Wyatt and inspired by 'The Tempest'. It shows Prospero's island rising cliff-like from the sea, with features such as a shipwreck suggested, and has references to the characters Prospero and Ariel. On the reverse of the sculpture is a plaque bearing the text of the play's epilogue spoken by Prospero. It is the first in a series of sculptures by Greg Wyatt for the Great Garden near New Place, the site of Shakespeare's former home in Stratford-upon-Avon.
