Biography

“I am Shayna. I am eight years-old and in Year 4. I like maths, reading, playing the piano, listening to music and dancing."

 

My creative response

Shayna’s Poem and Artwork

To thine own self be true, 

Means that no one else can fit in my shoes.

 

I dance, I jump; I laugh and I cry.

I do all these things in my own way; please no one try. 

 

Sometimes I succeed, other times I fail.

But I learn from my mistakes along the way.

 

If I ever feel dejected and worried about something bad;

Dancing and gymnastics are my refuge, along with confiding in my mum and dad.

 

Lockdown was treacherous, as I felt dismal without friends.

But schools have now reopened, and COVID misery is about to end.

 

While I am not perfect, I love being me.

And for making me like that, I thank God with glee.

“I wrote a poem to express my feelings without using too many words. Shakespeare also wrote so many beautiful poems.”

 

When have you been ‘true to yourself’?

“I am true to myself every day as I like to do what I find pleasure in.” 

 

What is your favourite Shakespeare play?

“Julius Caesar since I am fascinated by the Roman Empire.”
