”I am Will and I am ten years-old. I like drama, performing, playing the drums and gaming.”

“I am Daisy and I am nine years-old. I like drama, dance, singing, playing the saxophone and performing.”

Just be yourself

You are you, I am me

We’re all the same just in our different ways

Don’t need to pretend for anyone else - just be yourself.

 

You may think I’m strange but I’m never gonna change for nobody

You can shine on your own don’t need nobody to tell you

How to love yourself, how to love yourself

 

Be proud of who you are just be brave and stand out from the crowd

To thine own self be true, to thine own self be true.

About my creative response

Daisy and Will wrote the song together in response to the quote, ‘This above all, to thine own self be true’. They rehearsed it several times before recording it.

“Doing it as a song was fun as we had never played together before. It showed more emotion. It was something that no-one else was doing and meant we could use our skills.”

 

When have you been ‘true to yourself’?

Daisy has carried on with dancing, singing and drama even though people have not always been kind about her performances. 

 

What is your favourite Shakespeare character or quote?

Will: “Caliban is my favourite character because I played him for our Shakespeare for Schools performance.”

Daisy: “Beatrice from Much Ado About Nothing – ‘I wonder that you will still be talking Signor Benedick, nobody marks you.’.”
