To thine own self be true...

Muhammad’s Poem, Second Runner up (joint), Key Stage One Schools

Second runner up (joint) in the Key Stage One school entry

Who created it?

Muhammad, age 7

Biography

"I am Muhammad. I am seven and a half-years-old. I like playing football, going to Judo class and playing games on my IPad. I also like maths classes.”

My creative response

Muhammad’s Poem

Today you are you,

That is truer than true.

There is no one alive that

Is truer than you.

It’s not who you are that

Holds you back.

It’s who you think you’re not.

The choices you make, shows

the life you lead.

“To thine own self be true.”

Growth is painful. Change is

Painful. But nothing is as

Painful stuck

Somewhere you don’t belong.

Sometimes the person who tries

To keep everyone happy is the

Most lonely person.

Be kind - Be brave - Be honest -

Be creative - Be humbler -

Be thankful - Be happy - Be you!

Sometimes I pretend to be normal.

But it gets boring.

So I go back to being me.

 About my creative response

"I am a very helpful person at home and in class. I don’t tell lies and am an honest person. I do things that make me happy, not other people.”

When have you been ‘true to yourself’?

“When I moved to a new primary school and made new friends who were nice not popular.”

What is your favourite Shakespeare play and quote?

My favourite play is Macbeth. My favourite quote is: “Double, double toil and trouble; fire burn and cauldron bubble”
