'I am very much surprised of not having heard according to your promise two or three days after I saw you and captain Saunders which promise was that you would remit to me the Acknowledgement being £1 10s Per Year. It appears to me that you are only trifling with me I should be glad therefore if you would remit to me the sum that is now due by the return of Post. The Corporation Wall which separates our premises has been promised for years to be done and now remains in a disgraceful state therefore I would be glad if you would get it done I am, Yours Respectfully Porter'
