Description

Typescript memoir of Arthur Dumper, compiled in 1940 when he was stationed in the Orkney Islands. Arthur Dumper was a resident of Stratford from 1933 until his death in 1973. The memoir begins in 1938 when he joined 428 Battery of the 59th Searchlight (Warwickshire) Regiment, R.A., T.A., at Shirley, and includes a chapter, 'The war at Shottery', covering the period August-September 1939 when he was stationed there.
