Description

Bond from John Clerkenwell' Abbot of the Monastery of Stonley and the Convent of the same place, to the Abbot of the Monastery of our Lady of Bordesley and the Convent of the same place, reciting that the Abbot of Stonley had granted to every priest of the Convent of Stonley an augmentation of 6s. 8d. to their former rate of 20 shillings, for which gift a priest should, at the Requiem altar, daily say a collect for the welfare of the said Abbot of Stonley and Sir John Sparrey, parson of Assho during their lives and another collect to be said at the Mass, for the souls of the mothers and fathers of the said abbot and parson with all their benefactors and friends; towards which augmentation the said parson of Assho, by agreement with the Abbot of Stonley, has newly built a water mill called a Walkemylle with `flodegates' and a new house with two bays at his own costs upon certain grounds of the Monastery in a croft called Rabcroft beside Fynham Brygge, of which premises the parson's will was that the Abbot and his successors should receive the rents and profits for ever; and the said Abbot and Convent of Stonley bind themselves for ever after the decease of the said Abbot and parson to sing Placebo and Dirige and a mass of Requiem on the morrow for the souls of the said Abbot and parson, their mothers, fathers, friends and all christian people, or in default of performing the said masses, etc. to pay to the Abbot and Convent of Bordesley certain sums for which they give power of distress over the said Mill to the Abbot of Bordesley.
