Grant: Chapel Lane, Stratford-upon-Avon

Description

Grant from Alice Smyth of Stratford-upon-Auon, widow of John Smyth, tailor, to Thomas Wawnewryght of Stratford and Margaret his wife, of one half burgage in Dedelane [Chapel Lane] between a tenement of the abbot of Reading on the West side and a tenement of the Prioress of Pinley, now in the tenure of John Gylberte, weaver, on the East. Witnesses: Roger Pagette, capital bailiff of the town of Stratford, John Gylberte and Thomas Dawbys, constables of the same town, William Roose and William Brews, sub-bailiffs and Roger Palmer. Dated at Stratford, Friday before St. Luke the Evangelist, 12 Edward IV [1472]. Seal of red wax: a bird with wings displayed. The tag is a fragment of an early Deed.
