Description

Assignment of Mortgage from John Crispe of Chipping Norton, co. Oxon., at the direction of Francis Capell of Brailes, yeoman, to Thomas Hawton of Foscot, co. Oxon., yeoman and Philip Mills of Brailes (reciting a Mortgage from Robert Davies late of Brailes, deceased, dated 19 January 1624/5 (Old style) [1625] to William Davies and Richard Davies, both of Brailes, gents., of ten yard land in the Upper town field of Brailes containing 420 acres, and a mansion house enjoyed therewith, and reciting certain assignments, viz. to Robert Page of the Middle Temple in 1630 and to John Parran of Hook Norton, co. Oxon., yeoman in 1633, and in 1637 the reassignment by John Parran to the said Richard Davies, and reciting the will of Richard Davies, dated 9 January 1639/40 (Old style) [1640] whereby he appointed Sarah his wife his executrix, and reciting the marriage of the said Sarah to John Pippen who died intestate and that the said Sarah did thereafter lease five yard land and certain tenements, part of the said ten yard land etc., to Edward Davies, John Hall, Richard Walker, Thomas Walker and Philip Mumford for the residue of the said term, and reciting the marriage of the said Sarah with John Austin, and reciting that the said John Austin and Sarah, by indenture dated 26 March 1650, mortgaged to John Crispe the residue of the said ten yard lands etc., not theretofore leased or mortgaged, known by the names of Broadclose, the Forme closes, Crofts Close, Whites Close, and Wilderness Close, together with the said mansion house), for £1145 to John Crispe paid by Francis Capell, of four yard lands, part of the said five yard lands comprised in the last recited indenture for the remainder of the said term of 99 years.
