Covenant to Surrender: Cradley (Worcestershire)

Description

Indenture dated 7 April 1699, whereby Mary Hunt of Birmingham, widow of John Hunt, gent. and Hannah Bradley, widow of Joshua Bradley, gent., of Stourbridge, co. Worc., covenant with John Hill of Cradley, co. Worc., 'syth smith', that, in consideration of £90 to them paid, Joshua Bradley (now aged 10 years) son and heir of the said Joshua Bradley, shall on attaining full age surrender to the use of him, the said John Hill, in the Court of Cradley Manor all such customary lands, etc. in Cradley, adjoining lands of Richard Amphlett, esq., Robert Wakeman, Thomas Jeston, John Lowbridge, Francis Hill, Thomas Tibbotts and Edward Forrest, as were mortgaged, at a court of Sir Henry Lyttelton, Bart., held 18 February 3 James II [1687], by Richard Cove and Martha his wife to John Hunt and Joshua Bradley for £120; the same now to remain in the hands of the said John Hill until such surrender; with mutual bonds in £180, to perform covenants. Witnesses: Thomas Tyrer, Thomas Wright and Thomas Pearsall. Acquittance for the above mentioned £90, dated 23 June 1699. Witnesses: Edward Hallen and Edward Henzey.
