Description

William Thornburgh's account with the late Col. Francis Russell, 1694-1699 and 1708. The account, which contains also answers to the objections or queries raised to various items, deals mainly with insurance and shipping cargoes, though it includes '96 packs of cards bought for him - £2:8:0.' The last item is `To my costs charges in ye Suit carry'd on by Mr. Daston having been since ye Acco'tt d'd taken up by him at Skinners Hall in ye midst of my buisness (ye court then sitting) carry'd away by five Officers or Baylifts, who refused all Bayle to ye Counter or thereby (and that most surpriseingly) by vertue of a decree Ob[t]ain'd for £2200 or thereabouts As p[er]perticulers herew'th (without regard had to ye scandall damages sustaine'd thereby) cost me - £22:10'.
