Mortgage from Richard Hastings of Alveston, yeoman, to William Godwyn of Tiddington, yeoman, of a lease (recited), dated 20 March 1623/24, from Robert Baker of Alveston, husbandman, and Thomas Baker, his son and heir apparent, to Edward Hastings, father of the said Richard Hastings, of a cottage and little close in Alveston, then in the tenure of Richard Browne (but now a toft), half a yardland, in the tenure of the said Edward Hastings, parcel of two yardlands lately purchased by them from Edward Lane, gentleman, Richard Bishop, gentleman, and Mary his wife, in Alveston, Tiddington, Hatton and Hampton Lucy, and half an acre of meadow in Tiddington Meadow in Alveston, also in the tenure of the said Edward Hastings, for 3000 years at the annual rent of 11 pence (which lease the said Edward Hastings, by his will dated 10 July 1662, devised to his son, Richard Hastings); to hold to the said William Godwyn for 500 years to secure £100.
