Copy draft lease from the Rev. H.C. Knight of Leamington Priors clerk to Charles Carpenter of [blank] of Great Hallend or Great Allend farm in Wootton Wawen containing 215a. 1r. 15p., to hold from 25 March 1858 for 7 years [14 years in margin], paying £250.15s.0d. per annum for the first three years and thereafter for the remainder of the term £265.15s.0d. per annum, also paying interest at £5 per cent per annum on sums expended in draining the said premises, and £40 per annum for every acre of meadow or pasture ploughed up without consent in writing, the lessee to do three days' customary team labour when requested. With marginal notes and suggestions. Filed at the head are the following documents: (1) Further notes on conditions of lease, undated. (2) Note dated 20 July 1858 that the Rev. H.C. Knight agreed to erect certain farm buildings according to plans and specifications of Mr. J. Clark of Wootton Wawen and to do certain repairs and fencing, and that Mr. C. Carpenter agreed to pay 5 per cent per annum on £300 after the first three years. Signed: Charles Carpenter.
