Probate dated 12 February 1883 of the Will (9 Feb 1867) and codicil (2 Oct 1879) of James Cox, Shottery, timber merchant. - Household goods and effects to wife Ann absolutely. - Real estate and residue of personal estate to Trustees (William King Ewen, Stratford-upon-Avon, draper, son James Cox, Stratford-upon-Avon, timber merchant, step son Thomas Adams, Birmingham, timber merchant) to sell and pay interest to wife Ann for life, then capital equally between children of Ann, including those by her first husband, viz. Thomas Adams, John Butwell Adams and Sarah, wife of Thomas Harwood Morgan. Codicil. Reciting death of wife and making specific bequests of personalty to children and step children and residue of household effects to daughter Mary Butwell Hall, subject to £100 legacy to step-daughter Sarah Morgan. Revokes residuary share of son Abraham in real and personal estate and directs Trustees to keep back amount lent to him during testator's lifetime and pay only interest of residue to Abraham and his wife for life, then capital equally among their children. With executors' and trustees' accounts, 1884-1916, papers relating to sums lent to Abraham Cox, 1871-1873, deeds and notices re mortgages and assignments by Lawrence Webb Cox, son of Abraham, of his reversionary share under will of his grandfather, 1896-1899.
