Description

Lease from Humphrey Ferrers of Tamworthe, esq. and Anne his wife to Henry Walforde, son of Richard Walforde late of Stychall, husbandman, deceased, reciting an indenture of 20 October 2 and 3 Phillip and Mary [1555: see no. 781] whereby William Neell, late of Stychall, surgeon, leased to the said Richard Walforde a messuage in Stychall, in the tenure of the said Richard, together with its appurtenances; to hold for 21 years, rendering annually 13 shillings (2 terms), which land the said William held for a term of years, the reversion of which now belongs to the said Humphrey Ferrers and Anne his wife by the gift of John Ferrers, esq., father of the said Humphrey. The said Humphrey and Anne now lease the said property to the said Henry Walforde, to hold the same from the end of the term above specified for a further term of 21 years, rendering annually 13 shillings (2 terms), a heriot when due, 10 shillings towards the furnishing of a soldier whenever necessary, and two capons at Easter; and the said Henry to maintain the said property at his own expense, taking such great timber as is necessary for this purpose growing on the said premises; and the said Henry, on a week's warning, shall be ready with his team and carriage six times a year to carry wood, timber or coal or any other household things to Fleckno or elsewhere in the counties of Warr' or Derby.
