Description

Lease and release, the release being a conveyance from William Mister of Shipston-upon-Stower co. Worcs. surgeon, devisee under the will of Elizabeth Wheatley late of Shipston-upon-Stower spinster deceased, and Mary his wife to the Rt. Hon. Robert earl of Catherlough, Viscount Barrels, Baron Luxborough of Shannon in the kingdom of Ireland, K.B., in consideration of £540 paid to William Mister, and £150 paid at his request to Sarah Pitt of Old Stratford spinster in discharge of a mortgage, of three messuages and a malthouse in Henley-in-Arden and 8 acres of land occupied therewith, then in the several occupations of Thomas Tibbatts, Edward Graves and Abraham Winspur. The mortgage was made on 31 January 1723 to Edward Caddick for 1000 years and assigned at various dates to John Austin, to Elizabeth Tomes and to Sarah Pitt decd. On discharge of the principal money to Sarah Pitt, sole executrix of Sarah Pitt decd., the residue of the term of years was assigned to Joseph Cruttenden gent. in trust for the said Robert earl of Catherlough. Signed and sealed: William Mister, Mary Mister. Seals applied on green silk: a swan gorged with a coronet. Witnesses: Wm. Hunt, Robt. Crofts [clerk to Mr. Hunt]. Endorsed with acknowledgement of receipt of purchase money, same witnesses. With certificate of registration of contract for redemption of land-tax, no. 14,774, dated 9 May 1799, pasted on verso of first membrane (see no. DR 225/75). Endorsed: Purchase No. 7 Premises at Henley late the Arms public house and 8 acres of land in the holding of -- White.
