Assignment dated 11 March 35 Elizabeth [1593], by John Clopton of Sledwich, co. Durham, esq., to Sir George Carew of the Minories, co. Middx., Knt., Lieut. General of H. M. Ordnance, of a Lease from the Guild of the Holy Cross etc. of Stratford-upon-Avon to Henry Samuell 14 March 35 Henry VIII [1544], of a messuage and lands in Bridgetown and in the fields of Rien Clifford, late in the tenure of one William Staffordshier and a tenement etc. in the 'ould towne' of Stratford, assigned by Edmond Hall of Esbury, co. Worc., gent., on 2 October 11 Elizabeth [1569] to William Sheldon of Beoley, co. Worc., esq. and by Ralph Sheldon, executor of the said William Sheldon, on 30 July 31 Elizabeth [1589] to the above John Clopton. Witnesses: Jamys Woodward, Gowen Harvy, William Pendlebury, Gabryell Applebye and Thomas Mathew, servant to Henry Best, scrivener.
