Marriage Settlement: Beoley and Kirby Bellars (Leicestershire)

Description

Settlement on the Marriage of Raffe Sheldon, second son of Edward Sheldon of Beoley, co. Worcs., esq., and Bridget, sister of Thomas Morgan or Weston, being a conveyance from Edward Sheldon to Walter Savage of Broadway, co. Worcs., and James Clayton of London, gent., (in performance of certain promises and for the maintenance of Raffe Sheldon and Bridget his wife during the life of the said Edward Sheldon) of an annuity of £160 issuing out of the manor of Kirby and all demesne lands in Kirby Bellars for a term of 40 years if the said Edward Sheldon and Raffe Sheldon should so long jointly live and so long as the said Raffe and Bridget remain in the house of the said Edward; and the said Edward Sheldon granted to Walter Savage and James Clayton another annuity of £300 issuing as aforesaid after that the said Raffe and Bridget should depart from the said house of Edward Sheldon, for a term of forty years during the joint lives of the said Edward and Raffe Sheldon. Covenant by Edward Sheldon with Walter Savage and James Clayton to provide, during the joint lives of him Edward Sheldon and Raffe Sheldon, for the said Raffe and Bridget and their children for two men and two maid servants, sufficient maitenance and lodging and provision for four geldings and mares. Declaration that the said Walter Savage and James Clayton were Trustees for the said Raffe and Bridget. Witnesses: Giles Savage, John Price, William Whyte, Henry Jones and Anthony Ayray
