Indenture quadrupartite of marriage settlement between Matthew Lister of Oldford, co. Middx., esquire of the first part, Daniel Selman of Oldford, gentleman, of the second part, Sarah Lister one of the daughters of Matthew Lister of the third part and John Hooke, esquire, serjeant-at-law and Richard Young of London, merchant, of the fourth part, reciting that Matthew Lister and Sarah his wife, by indenture dated 20 December 1695, covenanted with John Hooke and Richard Young to acknowledge and levy one or more ffine or ffines sur conusance de droit comme ceo of the following:- One moiety of a tenement called King and Queens head house situate in Oldford, then in the occupation of Josiah Selman; One moiety of the ground there called Kings head ffeilds then or late in the occupation of John Westen One moiety of 1 acre 1 rood in Oldford in the occupation of John Betts Several tenements and 6 acres of land in Oldford (John Betts) Twelve acres of land lying between Bow and Oldford (Thomas Englefeild, John Hill and Henry Rarker) Eight acres of land in the manor of Bromley (John Smith) Two full third parts of several pieces of land in the towns, parishes, hamlets and ffeilds of Oldford, Hackney and Edmonton, co. Middx., viz. in Oldford Marsh one parcel within the second Bridge there abutting on the river, one other parcel adjoining lying near Shore Ditch, one other parcel at the W. end of the same besides Mr. Thomas Shaw's Lott Acre, one other parcel at the further side of Shore Ditch, one other parcel at the E. end of the same and another parcel near to Shore Ditch, and in Hackney two acres and of old time named Six Acres, and in Edmunton Marsh divers parcels to the number of seven acres, and three acres of upland grounds called little Broome Downes in Oldford, which said pieces of ground lying in Oldford, Hackney and Edmonton contained c.33 acres. One messuage and 63 acres of land in Henridwye, co. Denbigh, and were then in the tenure or occupation of the Lady Jane Salisbury, John Winne, ffoulke Davies and John Middleton And also of five messuages in the Strand, co. Middlesex, in the several tenures of Edward Mann, John Dodd, Theophilus Kilpatrick, John Knight and John ffrear And also of four messuages in Wapping, co. Middlesex, in the several tenures of John Sellers, Robert Lundsdell, David Moor and Thomas Tailor; and reciting that such ffines had been leavyed, and that the trust of the inheritance of one fourth part of the premises had been appointed by Matthew Lister on the marriage of his daughter Frances with Richard Bigg, gent., and that a similar trust of one other fourth part had been appointed on the marriage of Mary Lister to John Round, gentleman, and that a marriage was then shortly to be had and solempnized between Daniel Sellman and Sarah Lister, and then witnessing that, in consideration of the marriage and of £1000 paid by Daniel Sellman to be laid out in the purchase of lands by indenture tripartite of the same date for settlement on Sarah Lister, he Matthew Lister appointed John Hooke and Richard Young to be seized of one other fourth part of the premises named in trust for Daniel Sellman to receive the rents and profits for life, then to Sarah for life, then to her sons or heirs for ever, the trust being subject to a condition that Ruth Sparke, widow of Doctor Edward Sparke, should enjoy the three houses in Wappinge in the tenures of John Sellers, Robert Lundsdell and Thomas Taylor during her life.
