Miscellanea: Archer of Tanworth: Grant by Siward de Arden to Leceline

Description

Grant by Siward de Arden to Leceline, daughter of Geoffrey de Clinton, of Wolfhampcote with all appurtenances and liberties, together with the church of the said vill. To hold in lordship 'as I have held them' , for service of a half knight's fee which Cilwin de `Suha' [Southam] held. Grants to the said Leceline 10 marks in silver, 5 marks of which 'was the dower of my wife which I gave to her'. This grant was made in the presence of grantor's sons Osbert and Hugh for which grant they received 1 mark of silver. Witnesses: Roger [de Clinton], Bishop of Chester; Bernard, Prior of Kenilworth; Horman de Verdun; William de Clinton; Ketelburn de Langdon; Thureburn de Rocheby; Roger de Wilmeham; Ailwin, preposito of Flecknoe and his son, who handed over the money.
